  1. Hi there, I really enjoy your short walks in Auckland e-newsletter. My husband, 3 kids and I did the Orakei basin walk and it was lovely. But I did want to make one comment about information it would be useful to have. We could not find a toilet anywhere along the way, and it is a fairly long way for children to go without using a loo! If you were going to take your kids on this walk, make sure you use a toilet somewhere first! Thanks for the great work.

  2. Hi Trudi. Thanks for your feedback. Yes there are public toilets sadly lacking in this area. All our walk self-guide brochures and books note where the public amenities are. In this case, the only ones nearby are at the local cafes – in Palmers and Kings Plant Barn. A better basin walk for young children is the Panmure one which has two lots of loos plus children’s playgrounds. Cheers, Helen

  3. Hi Trudi. Just to let you know that I have sent an email to Auckland Council about the lack of public toilets. I am interested in finding out if there any plans for some. I have put up a new post about the Orakei Basin walkway and as you can see, I have made a point about there being no public toilets. http://walksinauckland.com/orakei-basin-walkway-extended/ I will let you know if there is any news. Regards, Helen
